Cleveland School is located on the northwest side of Chicago.  Integration of the fine arts into the curriculum has made Cleveland the "gem" of the Chicago Public Schools.
Cleveland's diverse population serves a majority of Hispanic students.  Full time programs such as art, dance, drama, and music help enrich our student's academic achievement.  According to NCLB standards Cleveland School has over 70% of its students meeting or exceeding state standards in reading and mathematics.

In addition to the arts program, Cleveland offers an extensive after-school program and is among one of a few schools that offers High School Algebra to 8th graders.  Furthermore, our school offers athletic programs for both boys and girls that includes competition in basketball, volleyball, football, softball, cross-country, track and field, and cheerleading.  Cleveland is very proud of its accomplishments and wishes to invite you for a tour.  Please give us a call and schedule an appointment so you can see it for yourself.  We'll be waiting!

ISAT Scores Rise!

A HUGE congratulations to the Cleveland School Community.  Our Illinois Standard Achievement Test scores have shown improvement for a record 6th consecutive year.  Preliminary results show all time high gains in reading, math, and science.  Our overall scores show amazing improvement with 72.9% of our students meeting or exceeding state standards. Wow!

In addition preliminary 2007 ISAT results show that 65.9% of Cleveland students are meeting or exceeding state standards in reading, a gain of 6.4 percentage points in comparison to 2006.  In that same year  69.2% of our students met or exceeded state standards in mathematics.  We’ve climbed 10.3 percentage points since that time with an all time high of 79.5% of our students meeting or exceeding state standards in mathematics. This tremendous progress is due to the hard work of teachers, parents, administrators, and students who took up the challenge.

Finally, our largest gains were in science where 77.9% of our students met or exceeded state standards, up from 62.1% in 2006.  We would like to commend the Cleveland School community for your hard work and commitment to our children.  These results are a testimony of what can be done when we work together.  We feel honored and  proud to be a part of it!

A Message to Our Parents...

On behalf of the Cleveland School Staff we hope that you are having a wonderful new year.  As we enter the month of February we ask that you take a moment with your child and discuss the importance of Black History Month.  Black History Month is more than just an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of African-Americans and the contributions they have made to the fabric of American society. For all of us, it also is a time to express gratitude for the brave African-Americans who had the foresight to know that labor rights and civil rights could not be mutually exclusive. We are reminded once again of the debt minority groups owe to African-Americans who fought in various ways for inclusion and equality in the face of tremendous obstacles. Black History Month provides the perfect opportunity to express gratitude for the work of these brave men and women and serves as a reminder that the struggles of the past have led to the victories of today.
